The Saddledome’s goodbye is going on the sleeve.
Calgary will wear a commemorative patch on its jerseys for the whole 2026-27 season, the last one in the building the Flames have called home since 1983. Eric Francis posted the first look Wednesday, and the crest puts both bookend years across the top: 1983 on the left, 2027 on the right.
The design pulls straight from the rafters. A red shield trimmed in gold and white holds “‘DOME” in heavy gold lettering, with “THE” tucked above it and “FAREWELL SEASON” in white underneath. The Flaming C sits at the bottom.
That chevron along the lower edge is not a random shape. It copies the championship and retirement banners hanging over the ice, and the top edge of the patch follows the curve of the arena roof.
Calgary unveiled the logo back in March:
The club pitched it as a thank-you instead of a goodbye, leaning on 44 years of history under that roof. Calgary named the 1989 championship team, the Cinderella run to the 2004 Final and Johnny Gaudreau’s Game 7 overtime winner in 2022.
Doors opened on the place as the Olympic Saddledome on Oct. 15, 1983. Scotia Place takes over ahead of 2027-28.
Here is how the last Dome schedule sets up:
- Oct. 1: Final home opener at the Saddledome, Kraken in town
- Dec. 26: Canucks visit on Boxing Day
- March 3 and March 23: Edmonton makes its last two trips to the Dome
- April 10: Last scheduled home game, Vancouver again
Forty-two home dates are all that’s left, and Calgary has not said which one gets the full send-off. Playoff hockey would buy the building more nights, though most projections have the Flames near the bottom of the league this season.
Barring that, April 10 against the Canucks is the last game on the books at the Saddledome.
