The Devils just came for Detroit’s Thanksgiving crown.
New Jersey rolled out its 2026-27 theme night and giveaway schedule Monday, and the club made no effort to hide the target. “Move over gravy boats, we’re introducing the Devils Butter Bench!” the team wrote in its release.
The first 9,000 fans inside Prudential Center on Nov. 23 against the Blue Jackets take one home. Here’s the announcement:
It’s built to look like a players bench. White boards, the New Jersey wordmark across the back, the logo and red, black and orange stripes down the front, all sitting on a red tray.
A clear lid snaps over the top, and the spreader tucked inside is shaped like a hockey stick. So nobody has to hunt for the crusty butter knife in the drawer.
Detroit started all of this. The Red Wings gave Zamboni gravy boats to the first 7,500 fans on Thanksgiving Eve in November 2023, and the Penguins, Blackhawks and Predators all followed with holiday dishware of their own.
Catch the giveaway that kicked the whole trend off:
Thanksgiving week is only one stop on a long promo calendar. New Jersey has five more giveaways lined up:
- Oct. 1: Light-up bam bam for every fan at the home opener against Philadelphia
- Nov. 5: Military cap for the first 9,000 on Military Appreciation Night vs. St. Louis
- Feb. 20: Arseny Gritsyuk figurine bag tag on Youth Hockey Day vs. Buffalo
- March 5: NJ Devil night light for Mascot Madness vs. Vegas
- April 10: Luke Hughes bobblehead on Fan Appreciation Night vs. Pittsburgh

The theme nights themselves cover plenty of ground. Devils K-Pop Night arrives Oct. 22 against Anaheim, Devils Down The Shore returns Dec. 17 against Toronto, and a Ring of Honor night will induct a fifth franchise honoree on a date the team has yet to set.
Newark Celebration, Pride, Black History and Hispanic Heritage nights are all on the calendar too, along with three sensory friendly games with a dedicated sensory room.
Individual tickets hit Ticketmaster on Thursday at 10 a.m. Fans signed up for team alerts get a presale on Wednesday.
New Jersey has been busy with the fun stuff this summer, from Jake Allen’s retro mask designs to a butter dish aimed squarely at Hockeytown. The Blue Jackets game on Nov. 23 is the one Devils fans will circle, and the hockey is not the reason.
