Sidney Crosby is now alone in sixth place on the NHL’s all-time points list.
The Penguins captain picked up career point No. 1,772 in the second period Saturday night against the Kings, moving past Hall of Famer Marcel Dionne. Crosby tied Dionne at 1,771 in Montreal on Oct. 31.
Here’s our graphic of the milestone:
It wasn’t the prettiest goal of his career. Malkin unloaded a one-timer that put Pittsburgh up 4-2, and the puck caught Crosby’s jersey as he tried to get out of the way.
The goal was first credited to Malkin before it was switched to Crosby.

Dionne finished his career with 1,771 points and spent the prime of it in Los Angeles. That makes the Kings the team Crosby passed him against.
Ron Francis is next at 1,798 points, just 26 away. Crosby has been chasing this list all season and has never finished a year under a point per game. After Francis comes Gordie Howe at 1,850, Mark Messier at 1,887 and Jaromir Jagr at 1,921, with Wayne Gretzky out of reach at 2,857.
Pittsburgh won 5-2 to move to 5-9-2 and visits the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday night.
