Connor Bedard scores between the legs goal vs Calgary Hitmen

This is ridiculous, Connor Bedard.

16-year-old phenom Connor Bedard scored an absurd between-the-legs goal in the WHL Sunday evening. With the NHL on All-Star break, Bedard had the hockey spotlight all to himself.

Bedard, the consensus first overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, is currently playing for the Regina Pats. His team was in action Sunday night against the Calgary Hitmen.

With Regina trailing Calgary 2-0 in the third period, Bedard picked up a loose puck in the neutral zone and broke in 1-on-1 on a Calgary defender. Bedard toe dragged around the defender before going between-the-legs to beat the goalie.

This entire sequence is just absurd. The toe trag is nasty enough, but finishing with the between the legs is icing on the cake.

Bedard also scored the game-tying goal on the power play to make it a 3-3 game. The Pats would lose 5-4 to the Hitmen in overtime.

It’s no surprise NHL fans are already thinking about their team tanking for Bedard in 2023. The 16-year-old phenom is leading Regina in scoring with 24 points and 45 points in only 33 contests.

Bedard’s between-the-legs goal comes on the heels of his impressive performance at the World Juniors. The youngster scored four goals in two games for Team Canada before the tournament was postponed due to COVID-19.

Bedard might not have the speed of Connor McDavid, but his skills are that of a generational talent. Players like these don’t come around too often.

With no NHL on Sunday, Bedard entertained hockey fans with a surefire goal of the year contender in the WHL. It might be years before we see Bedard in the NHL, but it’s never too early to speculate which franchise could land the phenom.
