The Boston Bruins spent Tuesday reshuffling their hockey operations department.
Don Sweeney handed out two promotions, added help on the cap side, and said goodbye to one of his top lieutenants. Assistant general manager Evan Gold is leaving the organization on August 1.
Dennis Bonvie and Jeremy Rogalski both got bumped up to assistant GM. Bonvie takes over player personnel after running pro scouting since 2022-23. Rogalski slides into an analytics and strategy role he has basically grown into since taking over the Bruins’ hockey analytics back in 2017.
Kevyn Adams, the former Sabres GM Boston brought in last month, was officially slotted as senior advisor to Sweeney. Alex Gimenez landed a brand new job as director of hockey operations for the collective bargaining agreement, a role built around contracts, cap management, and CBA compliance.
Sweeney laid out the thinking behind the reshuffle:
“As we continue to build our staff, these changes recognize the hard work and growth of people within our organization while also adding experienced voices to our group. I’m confident Kevyn, Dennis, Jeremy and Alex will each play an important role as we continue to improve our team both this upcoming season and beyond.”
Gold is the notable exit. He spent a decade in Boston’s front office and ran the AHL’s Providence Bruins last season. Boston Globe reporter Kevin Paul Dupont noted the weekend chatter had Gold headed to Toronto’s front office:
His departure leaves Providence without a general manager or a head coach heading into the summer.

The overhaul builds on the offseason work Boston kicked off when it hired Adams last month. Sweeney is stacking his staff after another summer of change on Causeway Street.
The people picking Boston’s next roster look a lot different than they did in June.
