Andre Tourigny is sticking around Utah. The Mammoth signed their head coach to a one-year contract extension that runs through the 2027-28 season, according to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period.

Pagnotta dropped the news Wednesday afternoon:

Tourigny’s old contract was set to expire after next season. He signed it back in August 2023, when the franchise still played in Arizona as the Coyotes.

The 52-year-old has run the bench since the team’s first season in Utah in 2024-25, when it went by the Utah Hockey Club. He took over the Coyotes in 2021 and made the move out west with the franchise.

Utah rolled out the Mammoth name and look ahead of this season:

His reward came after a breakthrough year. Tourigny guided Utah to the first playoff appearance in franchise history, finishing 43-33-6 for fourth in the Central Division and the top wild-card seed in the West.

In the first round they gave the eventual Western Conference champions a scare. Utah grabbed a 2-1 series lead on the Vegas Golden Knights before bowing out in six games.

Across five seasons with the Coyotes and Mammoth, Tourigny carries a 170-195-45 record. This spring was the first time one of his teams reached the postseason.

Locking up the coach takes one question off the table for a young roster heading into the summer. Utah hasn’t put out the financial terms, just the extra year.
