Travis Konecny was not a fan of the call.

The Flyers winger got whistled for hooking Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin at 13:31 of the first period Saturday night. On his way off the ice, the NBC Sports Philadelphia broadcast mics picked up Konecny asking the official a very direct question:

“Are you f**king insane?!”

Here’s the hot mic moment:

The call hurt more because of when it came. Philadelphia was already on the power play after Jesperi Kotkaniemi went off for holding at 12:21, and Konecny’s penalty came 1:10 into that advantage. That turned it into 4-on-4 hockey.

The Flyers’ power play still hasn’t scored this season. It’s 0-for-8 through three games.

Konecny made up for it early in the second. He outmuscled Kotkaniemi for a loose puck in the Carolina zone and fed Matvei Michkov alone in front for a 2-1 Flyers lead at 7:20.

Check out Michkov’s first goal of the year:

That lead didn’t hold. Sebastian Aho tied it on the power play at 4:59 of the third, his second of the night after opening the scoring just 10 seconds into the game.

Overtime brought one more Philly penalty. Owen Tippett went to the box for slashing at 1:35, and Shayne Gostisbehere hammered a Jackson Blake feed past Joseph Woll at 2:51 to win it 3-2.

Watch the OT winner:

Woll made 37 saves as Carolina outshot Philadelphia 40-18. The Flyers are now 0-1-2 after getting blanked 7-0 by the Penguins in the opener, and Saturday felt like a rerun of last spring, when the Hurricanes swept them in the second round.

Konecny finished the night with an assist and two penalty minutes. Only one of those is making the rounds on social media.
