Tom Wilson is back at it again.

The Washington Capitals’ power forward was given 14 minutes in penalties for an insane sequence during the second period against the New York Rangers on Monday evening at Madison Square Garden.

The play developed on a Rangers power play when Wilson took exception to forward Pavel Buchnevich being close to his goaltender Vitaly Vanecek in the crease.

Wilson punched Buchnevich in the back of the head while he was down. Artemi Panarin then went after Wilson and the Washington forward responded by throwing Panarin off his back and body slamming him to the ice.

Wilson received two roughing penalties and a 10-minute misconduct for his actions, resulting in 14 total PIM.

After the sequence, Wilson was spotted flexing with his jersey off in the penalty box.

The Rangers announced shortly afterwards that Panarin wouldn’t return to the game with a lower-body injury. A fan with a good eye on Twitter spotted Wilson pulling Panarin’s hair before slamming him to the ground. Here’s the slo-mo video:

Hockey fans and media members were quick to jump on social media and call for supplementary discipline against Wilson.

Keith Olbermann tweeted “Tom Wilson is a psychopath. This time is the last time. Ban him for life, arrest him #Capitals #Psycho“.

Mika Zibanejad didn’t hold back when giving his opinion on Wilson in his post-game.I figured you should have some more respect for the game and for the players. I don’t honestly know where to start. It’s just there’s zero respect. I don’t know why I’m surprised, just horrible.”

Wilson has already received a 20-game suspension in his NHL career and there is early talk that another heavy suspension will be coming his way. If you want to read a timeline of Wilson’s NHL suspension history, Brandon Schlager did a good write-up for Sporting News.
