Sean Strickland wants to throw hands with a hockey player.

The newly-crowned UFC middleweight champion tagged the Vegas Golden Knights on X this week with a call-out he says has been on his bucket list:

Strickland reclaimed the 185-pound belt at UFC 328 on May 10, where he handed Khamzat Chimaev his first career loss by split decision. He trains out of Xtreme Couture in Vegas, a few miles from T-Mobile Arena, so calling out the NHL team next door tracks.

Catch the highlights of his title-winning night:

Vegas isn’t short on candidates if anyone in the room takes the bait. Brayden McNabb already served a one-game suspension this postseason for a hit on Ryan Poehling, and the Knights have leaned on physicality all the way through the 2026 playoffs. Picking a champion shouldn’t take long.

Of course, the Knights have other things on the calendar. They grabbed a 2-0 series lead on the Avalanche in the Western Conference Final on Friday night, so a side trip to spar with a UFC champion probably isn’t top of mind for the front office. The team’s social accounts haven’t responded.

A fan asked Strickland if he can even skate. He said he’s never been on the ice, then brushed it off and said skating doesn’t look that hard.

Until a Knight bites, we’re stuck imagining the matchup. McNabb against Strickland, gloves off, no helmets, center ice. Someone in Vegas should already be selling tickets.
