The Sabres are still alive.

Down 3-1 to the Canadiens in the first period of an elimination game, Buffalo ripped off seven straight goals and hammered Montreal 8-3 in Game 6 on Saturday night to force a deciding Game 7.

Rasmus Dahlin set the tone 32 seconds in, then dragged his team back into the series. The Sabres captain finished with one goal and four assists, tying franchise playoff records for both assists and points in a single game.

Watch Dahlin’s record-setting night:

Montreal looked ready to close out the series early. Arber Xhekaj answered Dahlin’s opener 68 seconds later. Ivan Demidov struck on the power play. Jake Evans buried a short-handed goal at 10:14 to make it 3-1, and Lindy Ruff yanked Alex Lyon after one save on four shots.

Check out Montreal’s three-goal flurry:

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen came in cold and stopped every shot he saw. 18 saves on 18 shots. The Bell Centre never scored again.

Jack Quinn buried two power-play goals. Tage Thompson finished with three assists and an empty-netter for a four-point night. Buffalo finished 4-for-6 on the man advantage, Montreal 1-for-3.

Jakub Dobes gave up six goals on 33 shots before Martin St. Louis pulled him for Jacob Fowler midway through the third. Fowler allowed one of two shots over the final 10:02.

Saturday’s result undid the cushion Montreal built with its 6-3 Game 5 win earlier this week. The series is now even at three games apiece.

Here’s the Sabres’ full-game breakdown:

Game 7 goes Monday at KeyBank Center, 7:30 p.m. ET, with a trip to the Eastern Conference Final on the line.
