Mackie Samoskevich is banged up right before the puck drops on the regular season.
The Kraken announced Saturday morning that the 23-year-old winger is considered day-to-day with an upper-body injury. Seattle also ruled him out of Saturday’s preseason finale against the Vancouver Canucks, the last tune-up before the regular season opens.
It’s been a busy week of headlines out of Seattle. Ville Ottavainen was fined for throwing punches in a preseason scrap earlier in the week, and now the Kraken are down a top-six option up front.

Samoskevich played 18:30 in Seattle’s 4-3 shootout win over Calgary on Thursday, ice time that lines up with a top-six role. He finished a plus-2 without registering a point.
Seattle acquired him from Florida back in June, sending a first-round pick and a conditional second-rounder the other way. The Panthers made the move to clear cap space after his entry-level contract ran out.
Once that trade closed, the Kraken signed him to a three-year deal worth $3.85 million annually. The Panthers had taken Samoskevich 24th overall in the 2021 draft, and he spent parts of three seasons in Florida before the move west.
In 156 career games with the Panthers, Samoskevich put up 27 goals and 63 points. He’s added an assist in four career playoff games, and he has a Stanley Cup ring from Florida’s title run in 2025.
Calgary hosts the Kraken’s season opener on Oct. 1. Seattle hasn’t put a timetable on when Samoskevich will be back on the ice.
