Logan Stanley won’t be suspended, but he will pay for slashing Nico Hischier.

The NHL Department of Player Safety announced Sunday that the Islanders defenseman was fined $3,865.98, the maximum allowed under the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The slash happened during Saturday’s game against the Devils at UBS Arena.

It came at 19:13 of the second period, and Stanley was assessed a minor penalty at the time. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.

Here’s the play that got him fined:

Hischier ends up down on the ice with Stanley standing over him and Matthew Schaefer right beside the pair. Stanley signed with the Islanders on a one-year deal in September.

Player Safety also had Tom Wilson on its plate this weekend. He was ejected for a boarding hit on Sandis Vilmanis, and the league decided he wouldn’t get a hearing at all. We covered that one here: Tom Wilson Avoids Suspension for Boarding Hit on Vilmanis.

That Devils-Islanders game had plenty of chippy moments. Luke Hughes and Schaefer traded punches with their gloves on earlier in the night, and Jack Hughes won it in overtime. Luke Hughes wouldn’t call it a fight afterward.

A maximum fine is the same punishment Evan Rodrigues got in October for a high-stick. That one is here.
