Leo Carlsson got to beat the team that tried to take him away from Anaheim.

Carlsson scored and added an assist Saturday as the Ducks ended a five-game losing streak with a 5-4 win over the Flyers in Philadelphia. It was his first game against the Flyers since they tendered him a five-year, $90 million offer sheet on July 3, and Anaheim matched it six days later.

Carlsson was asked about playing the team that went after him.

“Attention was on some other guys, so I didn’t really feel anything different about it, to be honest,” Carlsson said. “I was never really here, so it wasn’t anything different.”

The other guy he meant is Cutter Gauthier, who still hears it from Flyers fans after forcing his way out of Philadelphia in January 2024. Gauthier set up Carlsson’s one-timer from the slot in the second period, which cut the Flyers’ lead to 2-1.

Philadelphia jumped out early. Matvei Michkov scored on a 5-on-3 power play late in the first, then Porter Martone made it 2-0 about a minute later. Check out Martone’s goal:

Anaheim tied it in the second. A.J. Greer’s shot caromed off the far post and Joseph Woll’s skate, and a video review ruled it had fully crossed the line. Watch the call:

Tyson Foerster put the Flyers back in front with a short-handed goal, and Judd Caulfield tied it 3-3. Tristan Luneau then gave the Ducks the lead for good at 2:00 of the third with a shot that found room between Woll’s arm and body. He finished with a goal and two assists, the first three-point game of his NHL career.

Beckett Sennecke made it 5-3 on a power-play redirection of a Carlsson pass. Michkov scored his second of the night to make it 5-4, but Anaheim held on. Lukas Dostal made 28 saves.

Carlsson now leads the Ducks with 13 points (three goals, 10 assists) through 11 games. Anaheim moved to 5-6-0, while Philadelphia fell to 3-7-3 after winning three straight. Flyers coach Rick Tocchet said the loss stung because he felt his team should have won.

The Flyers kept the four first-round picks they would have owed as compensation. Carlsson is signed through the 2030-31 season.
