Hockey Halloween 2026: Best NHL Player Costumes

Hockey Halloween 2026 delivered, and the costume game was strong across the league.

Sharks teammates Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith did a duo costume for the second straight year. This time they went as Goose and Maverick from Top Gun.

Boston forward JJ Peterka showed up to the Bruins’ team party as King Julian from Madagascar. The NHL’s own account asked if he won the holiday.

The Bruins posted a full group shot from that party, and the costumes ranged from Sulley and Mike Wazowski to Captain Hook, Batman and Spider-Man:

Matthew Schaefer teamed up with Matt Martin and two of the Martin kids for a Sesame Street theme. The Islanders rookie does this with the Martin family every year, as the NHL noted. Schaefer has been in the headlines lately for his overtime winner against the Wild.

Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl brought their families along. The McDavids went as KFC, and the Draisaitls were Harry and Marv from Home Alone.

The Wilsons also made the rounds. Tom Wilson and his wife turned their Cast Away costumes into a baby announcement, which we covered earlier this month:

• Penguins: Blake Lizotte and his wife went as Gru and Vector from Despicable Me, while Erik Karlsson and his wife were Austin Powers and a Fembot
• Jets: Dylan Samberg’s Benchwarmers costume was a team favorite at the Jets’ party
• Flames: Devin Cooley and his partner dressed as the Lorax, with their bunny Tito along for it
• Avalanche: Scott Wedgewood was the Beast to his wife’s Beauty, and Parker Kelly dressed as Brent Burns
• Lightning: Ryan McDonagh and Victor Hedman went as Superman and a pilot to surprise kids at Muma Children’s Hospital

The Blues also held their annual locker room trick-or-treat with patients from St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

Kelly going as Burns is the one that gets us. Picking your favorite player and then dressing up as him is a bold choice.
