Hockey isn’t the only sport the Sedins are good at.

Valter Sedin, the 19-year-old son of Canucks co-president of hockey operations Henrik Sedin, has been named to Canada’s U-20 men’s soccer roster for the 2026 Maurice Revello Tournament. He’s one of 24 players chosen by head coach Andrew Olivieri for the international youth event in France, which runs from May 31 to June 14.

Canada Soccer rolled out the squad on Friday:

The 19-year-old central midfielder plays for Swedish club Hammarby IF’s U19 team. He attended Sweden U17 training camps in 2023 and 2024 before earning his first Canada call-up at the U18 level last August.

Before signing in Sweden, he spent five years in the Whitecaps FC Pre-Academy starting in 2020 and made his pro debut with Whitecaps FC 2 in MLS Next Pro on June 30, 2024 against St. Louis City 2.

Whitecaps FC 2 marked the moment:

He joined Hammarby’s U19 program in February 2025 to keep climbing.

It’s been a big month for the Sedin family. Henrik and his brother Daniel officially took over as co-presidents of hockey operations in Vancouver on May 14, working under new GM Ryan Johnson.

Group B has Canada drawn alongside Venezuela, Japan, Ivory Coast, and Portugal. They open against Venezuela on June 1 in Avignon, then face Japan on June 6, Ivory Coast on June 8, and Portugal on June 11.

Formerly known as the Toulon, the Maurice Revello is one of the top youth tests outside FIFA’s official calendar. It feeds into Canada’s prep for the Concacaf U-20 Championship in Mexico this summer, which doubles as qualifying for the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup and the 2028 Summer Olympics.

Not bad for a Canucks legacy kid who picked the round ball.
