Connor Hellebuyck may have one foot out the door in Winnipeg.

The Jets goaltender is “very much open to a change,” Pierre LeBrun reported on OverDrive, even though he has not formally asked for a trade. Here is what LeBrun told the show:

Darren Dreger has been tracking the situation too. Asked about Hellebuyck’s next steps with the Jets, Dreger said the temperature is rising.

“Hellebuyck’s trade possibility seems to be heating up,” Dreger said. Watch him break it down:

Hellebuyck is signed for five more years at an $8.5 million cap hit, and he holds a no-movement clause. Any buyer has to fit that number and get his sign-off on the destination.

Winnipeg is listening, not giving him away. Dreger said the interest needs to climb before the Jets seriously part with their franchise goalie.

Florida lines up on paper. The Panthers have no goalie signed for next season, and we broke down why their thin asset pool makes a run at the former Hart winner tricky.

Dreger also floated the Hurricanes, pointing to Winnipeg-born forward Seth Jarvis, who carries no trade protection. He tempered it later, noting Carolina just won the Cup and may not want to rework a net that got them there.

The Jets control the timeline here. The asking price starts with a young, signed star, and so far nobody has met it.
