Vegas isn’t letting its most physical defenseman walk.

The Golden Knights are re-signing Jeremy Lauzon to a six-year contract with a cap hit in the $4 million range, TSN’s Chris Johnston reported Tuesday night. Lauzon was one day from hitting the open market.

The 29-year-old built his value on one thing. He hits people, and he does it more than anyone at his position. Lauzon has piled up 761 hits over 175 games since 2023, the most of any defenseman in the league.

Take a look at the kind of shift Vegas just paid for:

The money got tight for a reason. Vegas cleared cap space earlier Tuesday by trading Kaedan Korczak to Pittsburgh for Parker Wotherspoon, opening the room to lock up Lauzon long term.

Lauzon put up one goal and 13 points with 89 penalty minutes in 68 games last season, his first in Vegas. Nobody signed him for the box score.

He played all six games of the Stanley Cup Final and skated in 12 playoff contests during the run. The Golden Knights landed him a year ago in the deal that shipped Nicolas Hague to Nashville, a trade that also brought back Colton Sissons and a third-round pick.

The career line reads 15 goals, 58 points, and 442 penalty minutes across 384 games with Boston, Seattle, Nashville, and Vegas. Now Lauzon is signed in the desert through 2032.
