It’s safe to say Vegas Golden Knights captain Mark Stone was amped up about winning the Stanley Cup.

Stone had an epic reaction to winning Lord Stanley for the first time in his career on Tuesday night. Stone’s Golden Knights defeated the Florida Panthers by a 9-3 score in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final at T-Mobile Arena.

TNT broadcast cameras captured a slow-motion shot of Stone coming off the bench when the buzzer sounded at the end of the game. The 29-year-old center threw his stick up in the air and jumped for joy as his team won the championship.

If this shot doesn’t capture the pure elation of winning the Stanley Cup, we don’t know what does. Stone scored a hat trick in the game, becoming the first player to score three goals in an SCF game since Peter Forsberg of the Colorado Avalanche in 1996.

Mark Stone spoke to Turner Sports about what it felt like to lift the prestigious trophy.

“Unbelievable,” Stone said. “I just looked in my teammates’ eyes when I got it. Craziest feelings I’ve ever had. Just to know that I did it with my 25, 30 best friends makes it that much more special.”

“I can’t even describe the feelings in my stomach right now”, Stone added. “Everything you can imagine. The grind of an 82-game season, four playoff rounds, you grind and you grind and you grind. At the end of the day, we’re the last team standing. It’s incredible.”

Stone had a playoff to remember, finishing with 11 goals and 24 points in 22 postseason contests. His hat trick in Game 5 will be what fans remember the most, but don’t forget his stellar two-way play. Stone led all players in the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs with a whopping 25 takeaways. This guy gets it done at both ends of the ice.

Way to celebrate Mark Stone, you’ve certainly earned it.
