The Carolina Hurricanes get their own Hollywood treatment this weekend.
NHL Productions announced Wednesday that the 2026 Stanley Cup Championship Film premieres on ESPN2 this Sunday, Sept. 27, at 2 p.m. ET, with a second airing at 9 p.m. ET that night.

It’s an hour-long look back at Carolina’s run to its first Stanley Cup since 2006, closed out in six games over the Vegas Golden Knights in June. Captain Jordan Staal, coach Rod Brind’Amour, Sebastian Aho, Brandon Bussi, Taylor Hall, Jordan Martinook and Jaccob Slavin all show up on camera to walk through the series from their side of it.
Expect the moments that made the run special. Comeback wins, overtime goals, and the locker room scenes once the Cup was actually back in Raleigh.
Brind’Amour has a personal stake in both eras of Carolina hockey. He captained the 2006 team that won the franchise’s first Cup, then coached this one to the second, lifting it as a player and a bench boss 20 years apart.
Fans in Canada get the film a day later, on Sportsnet Sept. 28 at 8 p.m. ET with a replay on SN1 two hours after that. Anyone outside North America can stream it through the NHL’s YouTube channel starting the same day.
Carolina doesn’t get much time to look back. The Hurricanes raise their championship banner on opening night, Sept. 29, before hosting the Panthers in a game that’s part of ESPN’s tripleheader, which also has the Rangers in Boston and the Blackhawks visiting Vegas. The network’s full announcer lineup for the season is worth checking out before puck drop.
