Frederik Andersen is off the market.
Edmonton’s newest goalie married longtime girlfriend Annalise Bonesho in Copenhagen last Saturday, capping a summer that already handed him a Stanley Cup and a new team. The ceremony pulled in a couple of familiar faces, too. Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner, Andersen’s teammates in Toronto from 2016 to 2021, both showed up to celebrate with the newlyweds, per Daily Hive.
Marner’s presence carried an extra layer. He spent June on the wrong end of Andersen’s best moment, watching his Golden Knights lose to Carolina in the Stanley Cup Final. Weeks later he was toasting the goalie who beat him.
Andersen won the first Cup of his career with the Hurricanes, and captain Jordan Staal handed him the trophy first. He then signed a one-year deal with the Oilers in free agency and is expected to work a three-goalie rotation with Tristan Jarry and Devon Levi.
U.K. singer Idreiss handled the entertainment and posted photos from the day. Take a look:
There’s a Carolina thread running through the bride’s side as well. Annalise is the younger sister of Gracia Bonesho, who is married to Hurricanes defenseman Brady Skjei. Andersen married into a teammate’s family the same summer he won a ring with them.
Idreiss called it “an incredible weekend in Copenhagen.” Here’s a bit more from the celebration:
The goalie wasn’t the only Oiler saying “I do.” Trent Frederic got married the same day in a St. Louis ceremony, and defenseman Spencer Stastney got engaged back in March. Plenty happening in Edmonton this offseason, and not all of it on the ice.
