  • A Flyers fan used the team’s paint-the-ice event to immortalize Sidney Crosby’s Game 3 embellishment dive
  • The outline came with “Embellishment 2:00 minutes” and “R.I.P BOZO” written next to it
  • Read below to see the photo and revisit the call that started the feud

Philly fans are not letting this one go.

Philadelphia’s season ended in the second round to the Hurricanes, but Sidney Crosby’s first career embellishment penalty is still living rent-free at Xfinity Mobile Arena. The Flyers let fans paint their ice after the playoffs, and one artist outlined Crosby’s Game 3 dive in the same left circle where he hit the deck, with “R.I.P BOZO” written above it.

The half-black, half-orange chalk job also included “Embellishment 2:00 minutes” along one side. Kate Carr posted the photo on X:

Refs whistled Crosby for embellishment for the first time in 21 NHL seasons during Game 3 of the first-round series against Philadelphia, after Garnet Hathaway grazed his face with his stick at a faceoff. Both players went to the box and the game continued at 4-on-4. Pittsburgh lost 5-2 and never recovered.

Take a look at the play that started it all:

Penguins head coach Dan Muse was not subtle about how he felt afterward.

“We don’t have a single embellishment all year,” Muse said. “Sidney Crosby doesn’t have an embellishment in 21 seasons. Stick’s in his face, they take both of them. I disagree on that strongly… Sid doesn’t embellish.”

Sportsnet Pittsburgh had the full rant:

Pittsburgh’s request to speak with the series supervisor of officials was declined. Crosby finished with five points (1g, 4a) in six games and was held off the scoresheet three times as the Penguins fell in six. It was his first playoff action since 2022.

Philadelphia fans already stuck a billboard on I-95 mocking Crosby over the same call. Now they have a permanent rink-level mural too. The Flyers are out, the Penguins are out, and the trolling rolls on.
