Pittsburgh Penguins icon Evgeni Malkin has spoken out on his home being broken into on Saturday evening and it’s been clarified by authorities that his three Stanley Cup rings weren’t actually stolen — they were just misplaced.

Malkin was at PPG Paints Arena watching the Pens take on the Ottawa Senators when robbers entered his Sewickley Heights home.

Here’s what the Russian had to say, via the team’s X account:

“I would like to express my gratitude to the Allegheny County Police, the Sewickley Heights Police, and the entire Penguins organization. The outpouring of support and concern from my teammates and fans over the past few days means so much to my family and I.”

As the police noted, this remains an active investigation. Evgeni Malkin just returned to the Penguins lineup on Tuesday night after missing four games due to an upper-body injury. The assistant captain is still putting up impressive numbers at 38 years old, scoring eight goals and tallying 25 assists in 42 appearances.

Malkin is just one of many professional athletes who have been burglarized in recent years. Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce had their houses robbed last year, with $20,000 in cash being stolen from the tight end’s home in 2024.

As for NHL players, Dallas Stars standout Tyler Seguin was targeted by burglars last year as well. The FBI even sent out a bulletin to all pro sports leagues about organized burglars targeting athletes.

While the Pittsburgh Police continue to search for the suspects at large, it’s a relief that Malkin has his three rings and thankfully, no one was injured.
