Pavel Dorofeyev needed 4:10 of overtime to put the Golden Knights one win from the Western Conference Final.
The Vegas winger took a feed from Jack Eichel and snapped one past Lukas Dostal in extra time Tuesday, finishing off a 3-2 win at T-Mobile Arena and giving the Knights a 3-2 series lead over Anaheim. It was Dorofeyev’s second goal of the night.
Here’s the OT winner:
Vegas hasn’t been in a conference final since hoisting the Stanley Cup in 2023. Game 6 is Thursday at Honda Center.
First-period scoring went back-and-forth on the power play. Dorofeyev cleaned up a Tomas Hertl rebound for the Knights’ opener, then Beckett Sennecke answered for Anaheim and extended his goals streak to four straight games.
After a scoreless second period, Hertl broke the 1-1 tie at 4:48 of the third on a rebound of his own. The big Czech had gone 29 games without a goal between regular season and playoffs before scoring in back-to-back games.
Anaheim wouldn’t fold. Olen Zellweger ripped his first career playoff goal from the left circle with 3:05 left in regulation to force overtime, the latest late-game punch from a Ducks group that already used a third-period comeback to steal Game 4.
Carter Hart was the difference for the Knights in net, stopping 34 of 36 shots. Eichel collected two assists in the win, including the primary on the winner.
Brayden McNabb’s first-period ejection meant Vegas spent most of the night a top defender short. The blueliner caught a five-minute major and game misconduct for a heavy hit on Ryan Poehling, who needed help getting off the ice.
