Austin Lemieux is headed to the PGA Tour, and he got there with a 66.

The 30-year-old son of Penguins legend Mario Lemieux shot that number Monday at a qualifier in Florida to earn a spot in this week’s Butterfield Bermuda Championship, per Golfweek’s Adam Schupak. It’s his first PGA Tour event, and he’ll keep his amateur status.

Check out the post from the qualifier:

The score is the story here. Mario Lemieux wore No. 66 in Pittsburgh and finished his Hall of Fame career with 690 goals and 1,033 assists.

The qualifier had a 68-man field and four spots. Adam Long led the way with a 64, and Matthew Anderson and Willie Mack III also shot 66 to join Lemieux.

Lemieux has a hockey résumé of his own. He played a season in the USHL, then two at Arizona State, where he had seven goals and 20 assists in 66 NCAA games. He went to multiple Penguins development camps but never signed an NHL contract and retired in 2020.

Golf has gone well since. Lemieux won a Pennsylvania mid-amateur championship in September and picked up a Minor League Golf Tour win in Florida earlier this month.

The Bermuda Championship starts Thursday at Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton, Bermuda, with a $6 million purse on the line.
