The Utah Hockey Club is no more.

After abruptly moving from Arizona to Utah to begin the 2025-26 season, the NHL’s newest franchise didn’t have time to properly decide on a name.

Utah went with the moniker of the Hockey Club for its inaugural season, and while some thought that the unique HC name might stick, there’s a new Mammoth in town.

Utah is keeping its black, blue, and white color scheme and will have UTAH across the chest on its road jerseys. The home jerseys, however, will have the new logo of a Mountain Mammoth facing right with its tusks up.

Fittingly, the Mammoth’s new slogan is also “Tusks Up.”

Most team names are plural, but Utah decided to go with the singular Mammoth as a representation of an all-for-one spirit.

“From Day 1, we committed that this team would be built with and for the people of Utah, and we are excited to celebrate today’s launch with the entire state,” owners Ryan and Ashley Smith said in a statement. “The community chose the Utah Mammoth brand, and it stands as a symbol of who we are, where we came from and the unstoppable force we’re building together.”

Utah made a great first impression this past season with 89 points, and the Mammoth have some promising young players led by Clayton Keller and Logan Cooley. They also moved up from 14th to 4th in this week’s NHL Draft Lottery.

Things are looking up for hockey in Utah, and the unveiling of the new name and logo will only keep that going.
