Troy Terry needs hip surgery and the Anaheim Ducks aren’t sure when he’ll be back.

In their offseason injury report Thursday, the team confirmed Terry has been dealing with chronic hip impingement and will go under the knife in the near future. Anaheim listed his timeline as TBD and his availability for the start of next season as unknown.

That helps explain the upper-body designation that kept Terry out of 21 regular-season games. Even with the issue lingering, he finished with 19 goals and 38 assists for 57 points in 61 games, his fifth straight season with at least 19 goals and 50 points. Terry became the fifth player in Ducks history to string together five 50-point seasons in a row.

His playoffs were just as productive. The 28-year-old tied for second on Anaheim with 11 points (three goals, eight assists) in 12 games as the Ducks made their first postseason since 2018. That run ended with a 5-1 Game 6 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights on May 14.

Anaheim cleaned out the rest of its medical file Thursday too. Cutter Gauthier’s transverse process fracture is now official, the broken L1 and L2 vertebrae he played through for most of the second half.

Pavel Mintyukov pushed through an MCL sprain. Radko Gudas had a sprained ankle and would have been cleared if Anaheim had reached the Western Conference Final.

Drew Helleson is recovering from a groin strain, and Ryan Poehling was cleared of his concussion symptoms after the blindside hit from Brayden McNabb in the second round.

Ducks GM Pat Verbeek went through the team’s offseason needs and the Carlsson and Gauthier contract talks at his end-of-season address:

Getting Terry healthy now sits at the top of the offseason agenda for Verbeek. Until the team puts a hard date on his return, the Ducks plan their summer around a question mark at top-line right wing.
