Trevor Zegras is all kinds of fun.

Zegras scored the overtime winner for the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night against the Washington Capitals. He capped off the goal with a celebration made famous by one of his good friends.

With Anaheim and Washington tied 2-2 in overtime, Zegras recovered the puck in the neutral zone and broke in on two Washington Capitals defenders. Zegras cut to the middle and beat goalie Vitek Vanecek with a perfect snipe to end the game.

After scoring the OT winner, Zegras threw his stick into the crowd. It was very reminiscent of the Jack Hughes stick toss celly back in October. Hughes threw his stick into the crowd after scoring the OT winner against Chicago.

Here’s Zegras scoring and doing Hughes’ celebration against Washington:

Here’s a GIF of the stick toss celebration:

Zegras’ OT winner gave Anaheim their eighth straight win. The Ducks are having a fantastic start to the 2021-22 NHL season after missing the playoffs for the third straight year in 2020-21. Anaheim currently sits atop the Pacific Division with 23 points and are third in the NHL standings overall.

Zegras is one of the NHL’s rising superstar, and he’s heating up for the Ducks. The 20-year-old rookie has scored four goals in his last two games and has five points in that span. Zegras was the MVP of the 2021 World Juniors and is now finding his game at the next level.

Zegras’ hands are simply ridiculous. His warmup routine alone is worth the price of admission. Zegras has formed a lethal tandem with fellow American Sonny Milano on Anaheim’s second line, while 24-year-old Troy Terry is having a monstrous season with veteran Ryan Getzlaf on the top line.

The stick toss celly has the potential catch on now that two young NHL superstars have done the celebration. If you’re ever sitting near the glass at an NHL game, make sure you’re on the lookout. Hughes and Zegras may have just started the latest hockey trend.
