The Dallas Stars remain without two of their best players heading into a decisive Game 7 on Saturday against the Colorado Avalanche.

Head coach Pete DeBoer announced on Friday that Jason Robertson and Miro Heiskanen won’t play.

Via team reporter Mike Heika:

Neither player has suited up in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Robertson has been on the shelf since April 16 due to a knee injury, while Heiskanen also suffered a similar injury, but way back on January 28.

Robertson had a very solid regular season, ranking second on the Stars roster in scoring with 35 goals and 45 helpers. Heiskanen, meanwhile, compiled 25 points, including 20 assists.

Dallas suffered a tough 7-4 loss in Game 6 on the road on Thursday evening in the Mile High City, but they head back home for Game 7. Robertson and Heiskanen have been listed as day-to-day throughout the series.

There’s no question the Stars have missed both guys. Robertson is a consistent offensive piece, while Heiskanen is a critical player both on and off the ice.

Game 6 was an unfortunate one for Dallas as two goals went in off their players, but DeBoer completely believes in his group heading into the final game of this series:

“If you’re going to go into a game and two goals are going to go in off your own players, it’s going to be tough to win that night,” said DeBoer. “I give our guys credit. Despite the fact that we had those bounces against us, … we still battled right to the end. I’m proud of the group for that. Now we’ve got a great opportunity. Home for Game. 7.

“We’ve been in this situation before. No one gave us a chance to win this series, and here we are with one game at home to advance. So that’s a great situation to be in.”

The winner of this first-round matchup will face either the Winnipeg Jets or St. Louis Blues. If the Stars do advance, the hope is that Robertson and/or Heiskanen can finally return.
