This is a bizarre stat if we’ve ever seen one.
Nashville Predators defenseman Luke Schenn was credited with six shots on goal in a span of just three seconds. The veteran blueliner pulled off this weird feat on Tuesday night against the New York Rangers at Bridgestone Arena.
During the second period, Schenn pinched in from the blueline and brought the puck toward the Rangers’ goal. After Igor Shesterkin turned away his initial shot, Schenn kept whacking away with five more tries at point-blank range.
Here’s the fun part – Schenn matched his career-high for shots in a game (six) in those three seconds. He’d later add another shot for a new personal best.
Predators beat writer Jim Diamond pointed out the wild stat line, and it blew up on social media:
I don't think I've ever seen this before, but Luke Schenn, yes defenseman Luke Schenn, recorded six shots on goal in the span of three seconds. This is the most amazing stat in Predators history. pic.twitter.com/31xuz35uw0

Here is the video clip of the sequence. Let’s be honest – watching the play makes it way less cool than it sounds. But the Rangers’ defense barely makes an effort to take away Schenn’s stick. It’s no surprise that New York is currently in a freefall.
Check out the amusing Schenn six-shot sequence below:
The Preds got the rare 2-0 shutout win, but their season hasn’t gone as planned. After signing Steven Stamkos, Jonathan Marchessault, and Brady Skjei to big deals last summer, they’re somehow tied for last in the NHL with a 9-17-3 record.
The Rangers aren’t doing much better lately. They’ve gone from a hot 12-4-1 start to a mediocre 15-15-1 record. That’s what happens when you lose seven of your last ten games.
Schenn doesn’t make the highlights often in Nashville, but this is a fun record he’ll be able to tell his kids about. During the 2024-25 campaign, the 34-year-old veteran has recorded one goal in 34 games while logging 15:11 of ice time.
The recently-minted 1,000-game NHLer remains a steady defensive presence on Nashville’s blueline, even if his shooting percentage could use some work.
