The Nashville Predators keep adding familiar names to their front office.
On Wednesday, the team hired Jamie Langenbrunner as Special Assistant to general manager Chris MacFarland. The two-time Stanley Cup champion will help out with pro and college scouting, recruiting, and special assignments.
Nashville made the move official:
It’s the latest piece of a front office that looks nothing like it did a month ago. Nashville brought in MacFarland to run hockey operations and added Rob Blake as executive vice president. Now they have another ex-player with management experience in the building.
Langenbrunner, 50, spent the last decade climbing the ladder in Boston. He started as a development coach in 2015, moved up to director of player development, and took over as assistant GM in 2022. A month ago, he left the Bruins to chase a new opportunity.
His name had surfaced for a few bigger openings this offseason, including New Jersey and Vancouver. Instead he lands in Nashville under MacFarland.
As a player, he did plenty of winning. He hoisted the Cup with Dallas in 1999, then again with the Devils in 2003.
There is more to the resume. He captained Team USA to a silver medal at the 2010 Olympics, wrapped a 1,109-game career with St. Louis in 2014, and earned a spot in the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame.
This makeover started in the GM chair, and it has not stopped there.
