Paul Bissonnette, fan-favorite former Arizona Coyote turned TNT hockey analyst, found himself in a different kind of scrap Sunday night at a Scottsdale restaurant. This time, the ice was swapped for a showdown with some rowdy drunk golfers.
Scottsdale police say it all went down around 7:30 pm at Houston’s, a spot where Biz grabs dinner 3-4 times every week. Things got heated when a drunk group started causing trouble at the bar, leading to a face-off with restaurant staff.
When one of the troublemakers got in the manager’s face and started getting physical, Biz stepped in.
“I just grabbed the guy’s arm that was on [the manager],” Bissonnette explained in a social media video. “I said, ‘Sir, if you continue to harass and assault the staff, we’re going to have problems.’ And then they just started chuckin’.”
Thanks for your calls & messages. Love you fuckers. Had a blast getting to record @spittinchiclets today and share some laughs with the gang. See you tomorrow. pic.twitter.com/5WOxkxARvx

What started as a one-on-one quickly turned into Biz versus seven guys. The chaos spilled from the dining room into the parking lot and over to a nearby CVS.
“Got taken down a couple times,” he admitted. “I got boot-[expletive] in the head three times by the CVS.”
Scottsdale PD confirmed Bissonnette took some shots both inside and outside the restaurant. He needed medical attention and got checked out at a local hospital, but the former tough guy managed to avoid any serious damage.
“Did go to the hospital, so that’s probably what everybody’s reading about,” Bissonnette said. “Luckily, I didn’t get knocked out.”
The cops showed up quick, nabbing six of the seven guys involved. All of them are looking at assault and disorderly conduct charges.
“I just want to thank the police who were very quick to get on the scene,” Biz said. “And then the police department, paramedics came over, helped me out, at least get me checked out. And then the people at the hospital.”
The 38-year-old former NHL enforcer, who hung up the skates in 2016 after seven years in the show, called these guys “bad dudes, way too drunk.” He’s pretty sure they might have been on more than just booze.
“I don’t know what else they had in their system,” he said. “I’m very, very angry about these guys and kind of want their names out there and want them to pay the piper.”
“Just unacceptable behavior at a family restaurant just because they couldn’t grab another cocktail and didn’t want to hear no for an answer,” he added.
True to form, Biz kept his sense of humor through it all. He will break down the whole story on the Nov. 27 episode of “Spittin’ Chiclets,” his popular Barstool Sports podcast with former NHL d-man Ryan Whitney.
“To be quite frank, it was kind of nice to hop on with the boys and just have some laughs and kind of forget about it for four hours,” he said.
The ex-Coyote, who spent five seasons in the desert from 2009-2014, assured everyone he’ll be back on TV soon.
“I’ll see you guys on Wednesday at TNT,” he said. “Let’s get back to business.”
