Detroit Red Wings veteran Patrick Kane added his impressive resume on Tuesday evening.
Kane, who has proven to be a key piece for the Red Wings in 2024-25, scored his team’s only shootout goal in a victory over the Seattle Kraken. In the process, the American became the NHL all-time leader in shootout goals with 53, passing his former Chicago Blackhawks teammate Jonathan Toews. They both sat at 52.

An absolutely nasty backhand finish from the 36-year-old. That win improved the Red Wings to 28-21-5, which puts them in fourth place in the heavily competitive Atlantic Division. They’re red hot at the moment, enjoying a seven-game unbeaten run. Detroit holds the top Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
Patrick Kane has certainly done his part this season. The three-time Stanley Cup winner has 11 goals and 19 assists in 44 appearances. Since joining Detroit, he’s produced 77 points in 94 games. At this stage in his career, the numbers are certainly impressive.
If the Wings ultimately make the playoffs, Kane is a player with extensive experience on the big stage. In 143 career postseason contests, the Buffalo, NY native has netted 53 goals and tallied 85 assists.
Since hiring Todd McLennan as their new head coach, the club is 15-4-1. They also just swept their four-game road trip since 1996. Things are looking up in Motown and Kane is evidently ready to help this squad make some noise in the playoffs later this year.
Detroit is back in action on Saturday against a divisional rival in the Tampa Bay Lightning before the break for the 4 Nations Face-Off.
