Porter Martone’s first NHL goal came at the best possible time.

The 19-year-old buried his own rebound on a 5-on-3 power play with 2:31 left in overtime to give the Flyers a 2-1 win over Boston on Sunday. Trevor Zegras moved the puck to Christian Dvorak on the left side, Dvorak fed Martone in front, and after his first shot was blocked, Martone stayed with it and tucked the second chance around Joonas Korpisalo’s left pad.

Martone was the No. 6 pick in the 2025 draft out of the Brampton Steelheads and signed his entry-level deal with the Flyers on March 29. He made his debut two days later in Washington and has seven points in four games since. He leads the entire NHL in shots on goal over that stretch with 20, which tells you something about how willing the 6-foot-3, 208-pound winger is to attack.

The kid also set up the Flyers’ first goal. He chipped a puck off the boards between his legs to spring a two-on-one with Travis Konecny, and Dvorak beat Korpisalo glove side at 4:19 of the first. Boston tied it 35 seconds into the third when Pavel Zacha lifted one over a sprawled Dan Vladar on the power play.

Vladar finished with 18 saves. Korpisalo made 29 and was excellent until the overtime winner. The Bruins still hold the first wild-card spot in the East after dropping their second straight.

Philadelphia improved to 39-26-12 and moved into third in the Metro, one point behind the Islanders with four games left. Every point from here decides who’s in and who’s watching.
