It wasn’t clear if Mark Scheifele would play in Game 6.

With the Winnipeg Jets facing a 3-2 series deficit in Dallas, Winnipeg Jets center Mark Scheifele was hit with the news that his father, Brad, had died the night before the crucial contest in Texas.

It wasn’t clear if Scheifele would take part in Game 6 following his father’s death, but it was what his dad would’ve wanted, and it was announced that the Jets forward would play on Saturday night.

The Jets and Stars played to a 0-0 tie through the first period of Game 6, but Scheifele broke the ice early in the second period on Saturday night.

Scheifele picked up a rebound in front and beat Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger through the five hole.

It was the second straight game with a goal for Scheifele, who understandably had an emotional reaction after opening the scoring.

Scheifele and the Jets are looking to force a Game 7 on Monday night back in Winnipeg by winning Game 6 in Dallas.

It’s been an unimaginable 24 hours for Mark Scheifele. What a story for him to score the first goal of the game on Saturday night in Game 6.
