Vinni Lettieri is getting another crack at the NHL. The Maple Leafs signed the forward to a one-year contract on Friday, rewarding the guy who carried the Marlies to a Calder Cup last month.
Lettieri showed up when it mattered most. He scored the series-clinching goal in the Calder Cup Final against Chicago and another to close out Laval in the division semis. He wrapped the run with 26 points in 23 playoff games.
The 31-year-old put up 42 points in 55 regular-season games for the Marlies, too. He already has 155 NHL games on his resume between the Rangers, Ducks, Bruins and Wild, so the big club is nothing new for him.
Toronto didn’t stop there. Cole McWard, a 25-year-old defenseman, signed a two-year deal after splitting last season between the Islanders and their AHL affiliate in Bridgeport. He won a Calder Cup of his own with Abbotsford back in 2025.
Henrik Rybinski got two years as well. The 25-year-old forward is a two-time Calder Cup winner from his run with the Hershey Bears and chipped in 30 points there last season.
Samuel Hlavaj rounds out the group on a one-year contract, giving the organization another goaltending option to work with in the system.
None of these deals touch Toronto’s top six. But the Marlies just won a championship, and the front office is keeping that group intact. Lettieri earned the promotion.
