Macklin Celebrini has a new credit on his resume, and it has nothing to do with hockey.
Celebrini shares the cover of The Hollywood Reporter’s Sports Issue with Belmont Cameli, who plays college hockey star Garrett Graham on Prime Video’s “Off Campus.” They shot it Aug. 17 with sticks in hand.
Asked about the shoot Wednesday at the NHL/NHLPA media tour in Las Vegas, the 20-year-old told Amalie Benjamin of NHL.com that none of it felt normal.
“That was my first model-y thing. This media tour has some of that, but that was different. It was different. Because obviously Belmont was there and he was very comfortable. He said he did a lot of modeling. But it was crazy.”

They nearly met months earlier. “Off Campus” films in Vancouver, where Celebrini trains every summer, and producers asked him to do a cameo.
He was asked why the cameo fell through.
“I think I was either gone or the timing didn’t make sense.”
Their conversation ran as the second installment of THR’s “Game Recognize Game” series, which pairs an actor with an athlete. Celebrini spent a chunk of it trying to work out how anyone films from midnight until 3 a.m., Nicole Fell wrote in the accompanying feature.
Cameli did not want the sympathy. “Nobody’s hitting me at full speed,” he told him.

That is not his only cover this month. Celebrini fronts EA Sports NHL 27, which launched worldwide Friday, and EA has spent launch week pushing out clips of him messing around with Joe Thornton.
Hockey came first, obviously. Celebrini put up 115 points (45 goals, 70 assists) in his second NHL season and nearly dragged San Jose into the playoffs, then signed a five-year, $94 million extension in July.
Two shows on air right now put hockey at the center, “Off Campus” and “Heated Rivalry.” Celebrini traces the surge back to the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off, and he is fine with all of it.
“It’s a great thing. Just more attention on hockey, grow the game a little bit more.”
