Lane Hutson gave Habs fans another reason to believe Saturday night.
The 21-year-old scored a ridiculous end-to-end goal that sparked the Montreal Canadiens to a 3-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers at the Bell Centre.
It all started deep in his own zone. Hutson grabbed the puck, then weaved through Flyers players like he was in a highlight reel. When he got to the left corner—normally a tough spot to shoot from—he let a wrist shot rip.
The puck rocketed past Flyers goalie Samuel Ersson, finding the top corner with scary accuracy and tying a game Montreal had trailed since the opening period. The Bell Centre crowd lost their minds as Hutson circled away in celebration.

If you rewatch the play a few times, you’ll notice Flyers forward Noah Cates retrieved the puck afterwards and continued to play. Lane’s shot was so quick and unbelievable; the other team didn’t even know he scored.
The goal marked Hutson’s sixth of the season and gave him 63 points in 75 games, just one behind Chris Chelios’ Canadiens rookie defenseman record set back in 1984-85.
With his mix of confidence, skill, and clutch performances, Hutson’s becoming a serious fan favorite—and just in time for the playoff push.
Nick Suzuki chipped in with a short-handed goal and an assist, while Brendan Gallagher scored his 20th of the season. All three goals came in the third period, sealing Montreal’s fourth straight win.
Between the pipes, Sam Montembeault stopped 21 shots in his fifth consecutive start, helping lock in a key win. That W gives the Canadiens a four-point cushion over the Rangers for the last playoff spot in the East.
Next up: the Habs hit the road to face Nashville Sunday, hoping to keep the good vibes going.
