Bobby McMann isn’t going anywhere.
The Kraken signed the forward to a six-year, $34.5 million extension on Sunday. The deal carries a $5.75 million cap hit and locks him up through the 2031-32 season.
Seattle made the news official on its own account:
McMann could have hit unrestricted free agency on July 1. The Kraken made sure that never happened.
The timing makes sense once you look at his season. McMann poured in 29 goals, 17 assists and 46 points in 78 games, all personal bests by a wide margin.
Seattle grabbed him from Toronto on March 6, and he kept scoring. McMann put up 10 goals and 14 points in 18 games down the stretch with the Kraken.
Not bad for a guy who went undrafted. The Maple Leafs signed McMann as a free agent in April 2022, and he’s since built up 64 goals and 105 points across 218 NHL games.
The extension was the second move Seattle made on Sunday. Earlier in the day, the Kraken acquired forward Mackie Samoskevich from the Panthers for a pair of draft picks.
Seattle now has a 29-goal scorer signed into his mid-30s and a new winger in the fold. The Kraken spent Sunday building instead of waiting on the July 1 market.
