His 99 points in 2022-23 are the most any Devil has scored in a season. He broke Patrik Elias’ mark of 96, set in 2000-01. Hughes also has the highest points per game of anyone who has played 300 games for the club.

Yes. Hughes scored 1:41 into overtime of the gold medal game in Milan on February 22, 2026, off a Zach Werenski pass, to beat Canada 2-1. It was the first Olympic gold in men’s hockey for the United States since 1980. He finished the tournament with four goals and three assists in six games.

Hughes signed an eight-year, $64 million extension with New Jersey in November 2021. The cap hit is $8 million and the deal runs through the 2029-30 season.

Quinn Hughes, a defenseman drafted seventh overall by Vancouver in 2018 and traded to Minnesota during the 2025-26 season, and Luke Hughes, a defenseman taken fourth overall by New Jersey in 2021. The three are the only American brothers all picked in the first round.

He is listed at 5-foot-11 and 175 pounds. He shoots left and wears number 86.

He had finger surgery after a non-hockey injury the Devils announced on November 16, 2025, and missed 18 straight games before returning on December 21. He sat out 21 games in total and still led New Jersey in scoring.

No. He has played 12 playoff games, all in 2023, when New Jersey beat the Rangers in the first round and lost to Carolina in the second. The Devils have not been back to the postseason with him healthy since.
