Lukas Cormier is sticking around Vegas.

The Golden Knights signed the 24-year-old defenseman to a one-year contract on Monday, keeping one of their top AHL producers in the fold for 2026-27.

Vegas confirmed the deal:

Cormier just wrapped the best pro season of his career. He put up eight goals and 47 points in 49 games with the Henderson Silver Knights and finished a plus-2 after some ugly plus-minus numbers earlier in his AHL run.

The offense has never been the question. Vegas took him 68th overall in the 2020 draft after he tore up the QMJHL with Charlottetown, where he became the first player to win the league’s top defenseman award twice.

NHL time is a different story. Cormier has played just two games for Vegas, both back in the 2023-24 season, and picked up an assist in his debut against the Islanders on Jan. 4, 2024.

He’ll likely open next season in Henderson again, with a chance to get called up if injuries hit the Vegas back end.

Cormier’s deal follows a busy stretch on defense for Vegas. The team signed Ville Heinola to a one-year deal last week and locked up Rasmus Andersson long term, so the depth chart is filling in fast.

Cormier’s next step is turning those Henderson numbers into real NHL minutes.
