The Vegas Golden Knights have seemingly steered clear of a serious Carter Hart injury.

The netminder suffered what looked to be a concerning lower-body injury on Thursday evening against the Columbus Blue Jackets, ultimately exiting in the first period. But, head coach Bruce Cassidy confirmed Saturday that Hart is currently considered week-to-week.

The club is now missing its top two goaltenders, as Adin Hill is also sidelined with an injury. Hart, who hasn’t played in the league in almost two years, was signed by Vegas last fall after being eligible to sign with any team on October 15 following a sexual assault lawsuit alongside four other Team Canada World Junior players from 2018.

Fans were quick to attack Hart after his injury on Thursday because of his legal troubles. Here’s a look at the play:

Since joining the Golden Knights, the former Philadelphia Flyer is 5-3-3 with a 3.28 GAA and .871 save percentage. He made his first start in early December.

With both Hill and Hart unavailable, Cassidy will turn to Akira Schmid, who is set to start on Saturday against the St. Louis Blues. Vegas is also calling up AHL netminder Carl Lindbom, who has already started seven games in 2025-26.

“Akira has done a really good job for us,” Cassidy said. “We liked what he did last year, so we were hoping that would translate into what he did this year and have some success, and it has.

“With Carl, there was unknown with his first call-up and got thrown in a tough spot. He got a taste of NHL shooters, the difference probably between the NHL and the American League. He got a win and went back to Henderson and probably felt good about the win and has played well there.”

The Golden Knights are sitting in first place in the Pacific Division with a 19-11-12 record. They’ve also won two in a row entering Saturday’s matchup.
