The Flyers got some good news on Nikita Grebenkin.

PHLY Sports’ Charlie O’Connor reported that the winger should be fully healthy and ready for training camp in September, per a team source. No surgery was necessary.

O’Connor cautioned there’s still about six weeks until camp opens, so a setback isn’t off the table. Right now, though, everything is pointing the right way.

Grebenkin hasn’t played since late March. An upper-body injury ended his 2025-26 season, and the recovery timeline got murky in a hurry.

Back in May, GM Danny Briere told reporters that Grebenkin was at risk of not being ready for the start of next season. The Flyers first believed the injury was minor. When he didn’t bounce back as expected, the team started weighing treatment options.

He is already back on the ice. Grebenkin was spotted skating at the Flyers Training Center this summer during development camp, a promising sign for a player who wants a bigger role.

Grebenkin came over from Toronto at the 2025 trade deadline in the Scott Laughton deal. The 2022 fifth-round pick made the most of it, breaking camp with Philadelphia and sticking in the NHL all year. He played 55 games and put up 14 points, mostly on the fourth line.

Catch every point he scored last season:

The 6-foot-2 Russian brings size and a KHL title to the mix, having won it all with Metallurg Magnitogorsk in 2024. A clean bill of health gives him a real chance at more ice time in a Flyers offseason that has already reshaped the roster.
