Don Cherry is a Canadian national treasure. Despite this, many question if his time on CBC and Hockey Night in Canada is coming to an end.
Cherry used his Coaches Corner platform Saturday to take exception to the Carolina Hurricanes post-game celebrations that have gotten the attention of everyone in the hockey world.
Carolina has celebrated every win on home ice this season with various “Storm Surge” celebrations. They’ve done basketball dunks, dominoes and the limbo just to name a few.
Cherry went in hard on the Hurricanes, taking an old school approach and saying the Hurricanes were “Jerks” for having fun. You can watch the full video of Cherry’s rant down below:

The Hurricanes ran with Cherry’s comments, embracing the hate and creating various memes and merchandise related to being the “Bunch of Jerks”.

Cherry was head coach of the Boston Bruins from 1974 to 1979, leading the team to two Stanley Cup finals before coaching the Colorado Rockies for the 1979-80 season. He’s been co-hosting “Coach’s Corner” with Ron MacLean during intermissions on Hockey Night in Canada for 33 seasons.
Cherry vs. the Hurricanes has got to be the best and most unexpected rivalry of the 2018-19 NHL season.
