Leafs fans have decided Connor McDavid is coming home, and the evidence is a fleece jacket.
Lauren Kyle McDavid, the Oilers captain’s wife, reshared a preview from her sportswear label Sports Club Atelier on Tuesday. It showed a navy sherpa full-zip with a Toronto Maple Leafs crest stitched on the chest, along with a poll asking followers to vote on their favorite of four colorways.
Toronto handled the rest.
Within a few hours the replies had turned into a recruiting pitch. One fan simply informed the Oilers captain of his new employer:
Others called it a soft launch and started circling 2028 on the calendar.
Her business does not stop at the Alberta border. Kyle launched Sports Club Atelier in late 2024 and has taken it well past Edmonton since, building the Foundry Collection with the Oilers, dropping a red-and-white Hockey Canada line ahead of the Olympics, and designing custom playoff jackets for wives and girlfriends across several teams last spring.
A Leafs piece is a new market for the brand, not a hint about her husband.
Sports Club Atelier said as much once the theories piled up, posting a follow-up story that Daily Hive captured:
“PSA: Everyone needs to relax. Sports Club Atelier is growing this year and expanding to 12 teams. We don’t discriminate, even the rivals.”
Contract math is not on Toronto’s side either. McDavid signed a two-year, $25 million extension last fall that runs through 2027-28, which puts his earliest crack at unrestricted free agency in the summer of 2028.
None of that has slowed anything down. This is the same offseason where an ESPN analyst was already naming McDavid landing spots, and Oilers fans have gotten plenty of practice firing back:
