- It’s the opposite shoulder from the December injury that cost him 12 games

Connor Bedard hurt his shoulder again.
The Blackhawks star left an offseason skate in his hometown of Vancouver on Thursday holding his left shoulder, and the way he got off the ice looked all too familiar to anyone who watched him go down in St. Louis last December.
Blackhawks blogger Ryan McGregor was at the practice and reported it first:
Bedard fell awkwardly into the boards after a spin pass and popped straight up grabbing his left arm. He coasted to the far end of the ice, clearly hurting, before skating off.
Watch the video, and you can hear how much it hurt:
The scary part is the history. Bedard separated his right shoulder against the Blues on Dec. 12 and missed 12 games. He was still working that one back in the spring, enough that he skipped the 2026 World Championship to keep rehabbing.
This time it’s the other shoulder, and nobody knows yet how bad it is. Per the Chicago Sun-Times, agent Don Meehan said the team should have a clearer read on Bedard’s status in the coming days.
Chicago has extra reason to hold its breath. Bedard and the Blackhawks are still hammering out a long-term deal, with GM Kyle Davidson saying this week the two sides aren’t there yet on an extension.
The Blackhawks open training camp in September, and a bad left shoulder is suddenly the biggest question hanging over camp.
