Cole Caufield is making a habit out of ending these things.
The Canadiens winger scored at 3:19 of overtime Monday night to beat the Ottawa Senators 3-2 at Colisee Videotron in Trois-Rivieres, the game that capped Saint-Boniface winning Kraft Hockeyville. It came two nights after he beat the Maple Leafs with 38 seconds left in overtime at Bell Centre.

Caufield needed both of his goals. He tied the game 2-2 on the power play at 11:59 of the third, finishing a give-and-go with Lane Hutson from the left circle.
That is the same combination that produced Saturday’s winner against Toronto. Hutson and Nick Suzuki picked up the assists on the overtime goal too.

He was asked afterward about the crowd, which packed the ECHL rink in Montreal sweaters and greeted both teams on a red carpet that morning.
“To be able to come here and put on a show for these fans that don’t always get to be in the Bell Centre, it’s the least we could do. They were very loud and it was very exciting to be here. Getting off the bus this morning and seeing all those fans, it could have made their whole year.”
Ottawa had its own first-timers. William Eklund opened the scoring 1:29 into the game on a feed from Dylan Cozens, his debut with the Senators after arriving from San Jose in a June trade.
Samuel Ersson made his Ottawa debut in net and stopped 33 shots, 11 of them in the third period. Cozens finished with a goal and an assist, scoring with 12 seconds left in the second to put the Senators ahead 2-1.
Jayden Struble scored Montreal’s first goal at 4:43 of the opening period. Sam Montembeault and Jakub Dobes split the night and combined for 18 saves.
Saint-Boniface takes home $250,000 for upgrades to Arena de Saint-Boniface, and 40 kids from Ecole primaire Sainte-Marie sang the anthem before puck drop. Caufield gave them the ending they wanted.
