Brock Boeser isn’t going anywhere.
The Vancouver Canucks made sure to lock up one of their most important players on the first day of NHL free agency on Tuesday, signing Boeser to a seven-year, $50.75 million contract extension. He’ll make over $7 million annually:
The 2015 first round pick has been a consistent producer for the Canucks since arriving after a standout college career at North Dakota. He posted career-highs in goals and points in 2023-24, netting 40 times and putting up 73 total points.
Canucks GM Patrick Allvin expressed how pleased Vancouver is to keep Boeser around for the long haul:
“Brock has been a huge part of our organization, and we are extremely happy to have him back in the fold,” said Allvin. “He has scored some big goals for our hockey club and has established himself as a very dangerous offensive player. Brock is a leader and culture setter in our locker room, and we’re confident he will continue to play an important role for our team moving forward doing great work both on and off the ice.”
Last season, Boeser finished with 25 goals and 25 helpers and continues to be one of Vancouver’s top guys year in and year out.
The Canucks reportedly took trade calls on Boeser leading up to the deadline earlier this year, no offer was intriguing enough to accept. Now, they keep him for the foreseeable future as the organization looks to make a return to the playoffs next season.
Boeser has long voiced his love for the city of Vancouver and its fanbase, who have always had his back. The Canucks also re-signed Thatcher Demko and Conor Garland on Tuesday, who are very key to this group as well.
