Riley Duran gets to keep playing for the team he grew up watching.
The Bruins re-signed the Woburn, Massachusetts native to a one-year, two-way deal on Wednesday, per the team. The contract runs through 2026-27 and carries an $850,000 cap hit at the NHL level.
Duran grew up about 10 miles from TD Garden. Boston drafted him in the sixth round back in 2020, 182nd overall, so this is a full-circle deal for the 24-year-old forward.
He is coming off the best pro season of his young career. Duran put up seven goals and 12 assists for 19 points in 72 games with AHL Providence last year, a career high, and finished a plus-19.
Across 143 AHL games, all with Providence, he has 39 points. He also has two NHL games on his resume after making his debut with Boston on April 10, 2025.
Before turning pro, Duran spent three seasons at Providence College and racked up 55 points in 102 games with the Friars. He also suited up for the United States at the 2022 World Juniors.
The two-way structure means he will likely open the year back in Providence, but it keeps a big-bodied, 6-foot-2 forward around as call-up depth. Boston is reshaping its forward group in the AHL, and Duran is one of the pieces they wanted back. He joins fellow Bruins-drafted forward Dans Locmelis as a returning name up front, giving the team’s prospect pipeline some familiar faces.
Matthew Poitras is now the lone restricted free agent Boston still has to sign.
