Brad Marchand’s got his priorities straight. And his wife Katrina knows exactly where she stands in the pecking order.

A hilarious Instagram video that went viral Monday shows the Panthers forward choosing to plant a smooch on Lord Stanley’s Cup instead of his wife during their Stanley Cup celebration.

The moment, originally posted by Katrina on her Instagram (@kasloane) with the caption “at least a close second,” had fans cracking up at Marchand’s not-so-subtle choice.

You can’t really blame the guy. After waiting 14 years between Stanley Cup wins, Marchand’s clearly making up for lost time with hockey’s ultimate prize.

The video perfectly captures Marchand’s larger-than-life personality. This is the same guy who once taunted the Canucks by kissing an invisible Stanley Cup back in 2013. Now he’s got the real thing, and apparently it’s getting all the love.

The Long Road Back

For Marchand, this Cup means everything. The 37-year-old was traded from Boston to Florida at the deadline in March, leaving behind the only NHL home he’d ever known. His family stayed in Boston while he chased another championship.

“Just recognition, we did it,” Katrina told NHL.com after the Panthers clinched. “Just telling us as a family, we did it. It’s worth it.”

The Panthers won their second straight Cup in June, beating Edmonton in six games. Marchand was huge in the Finals with six goals, nearly winning the Conn Smythe Trophy.

His Cup celebration tour has been legendary. There was the Tim Hortons drive-thru visit where he almost ordered a Boston cream donut (awkward).

Don’t forget the party with Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon wearing BM63 hats.Β And now this instant classic moment with Katrina.

The best part? Katrina’s clearly in on the joke, sharing the video herself. After three months apart during the trade and playoffs, she gets it. When you wait that long for Stanley, sometimes a wife’s gotta take a backseat.

At least she knows where she stands. Right behind 35 pounds of silver glory.
