Dvorsky, the Blues’ first-round pick (10th overall) in the 2023 NHL Draft, has been turning heads during his first pro season in North America. The 19-year-old racked up 20 goals and 23 assists over 57 games with the Thunderbirds, putting him among the top rookies in the AHL. He even earned a spot at the 2025 AHL All-Star Game back in February.
Blues Head Coach Jim Montgomery kept his advice simple for Dvorsky’s big debut: “Do what got you here. Play to your strengths.” He added, “It’s a great day for him.”
Before joining the Thunderbirds, Dvorsky lit it up with the OHL’s Sudbury Wolves, scoring 45 goals and 43 assists in just 52 games during the 2023-24 season. He also captained Slovakia at the 2025 U-20 World Junior Championships, leading the team with nine points in five games.
Dvorsky is getting his shot because forward Pavel Buchnevich is dealing with an illness and listed as day-to-day. Plus, Oskar Sundqvist is out for “maintenance,” according to Montgomery. Dvorsky will slot into the third line.
With the Blues currently holding the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference, Dvorsky’s addition could provide an offensive boost as they push for a playoff berth. At 19 years, 281 days old, Dvorsky is the youngest player to debut for the Blues since Jake Neighbours in 2021.
The Blues are hoping Dvorsky’s strong season translates quickly to the NHL as they face a huge matchup against the Nashville Predators.
